Open-source thrives on code contributions, but a gap emerges when developers writing software aren't the operators deploying it. In projects bridging hardware and software, like EVerest, this disconnect is profound.

Early on, we faced a chicken-and-egg problem. End-users (Charge Point Operators) heard our pitch and responded, "Sounds nice, tell me when I can buy it." This meant zero engagement when we desperately needed field feedback to get the open source flywheel started.

We realized we needed a User Group (the EVerest CPO Forum), but merely launching it wasn't a magic bullet. This talk tells the honest story of the time, persistence, and strategy required to actually make it work. I will share the roadblocks we hit engaging non-adopters, how we finally broke the cycle, and what specific strategies translated operational headaches into actionable project roadmaps.

This session should serve as an open blueprint. Attendees will learn how to build their own User Group, bridge the developer-user divide, and ensure their project solves real operational pain.
