Jose Daniel Lara (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and Licentiate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Costa Rica, San Pedro, Costa Rica, in 2009 and 2012, respectively, the M.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2014, the M.S. degree in energy and resources with focus on engineering and business for sustainability in 2017, and the Ph.D. degree in energy and resources with designated emphasis in computational and data science and engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 2022. He was with the National Laboratory of the Rockies at the Grid Planning and Analysis Center as Principal Model Engineer, where he led the development of the Sienna Platform (https://sienna-platform.github.io/Sienna/), and is currently the CTO at QXT Energy (https://qxt.energy), a software firm leading the development of modern power systems tools leveraging open source software.
