About me
Lucian Balea is Deputy Director of R&D and Open Source Director at RTE, the French power transmission system operator. He plays a leading role in guiding the company's R&D activities and also leads RTE's open source strategy, which aims to take the digitization of the electricity grid into a new era. He has been with RTE since 2003, holding several management positions in the fields of R&, markets, and finance.
In early 2018, Lucian began collaborating with The Linux Foundation to launch LF Energy, an “independent home for shared development of open technology platforms, data, and standards to solve common challenges for delivering affordable, reliable, safe, and clean energy”. Lucian has been serving as Chair of the Board of LF Energy since 2019 and has actively contributed to its growth and the promotion of the open source collaboration model across the energy industry.
Lucian has also been involved in the LF Research Advisory Board since 2021 and the Linux Foundation Europe Advisory Board since 2023.
